CORD 8100 Lev Sedan

A day off before Christmas gave me the sweet few hours I needed to hone in on some details that would resolve a Cord concept I sketched up a few months ago.  I'm really happy with the proportion of this one- it's more successful than the Bugatti, which ended up looking too narrow overall.  This one has clearly exaggerated pylons and motivators, giving it a much more fantastic, futuristic feel. Also, putting this lev car in an environment allowed for more complete, interesting and challenging reflections.

Bugatti Type 5700

The 2138 Bugatti Type 5700 is a commemorative personal luxury-sport craft celebrating 200 years since the iconic Type 57 SC was created.  More on this in the coming weeks.

Moto Rumi Rejuvenation

This is a re-render of the final presentation image for my Moto-Rumi Capolavoro motorcycle senior studio.  I felt the need to rework the piece, for reasons from quality concerns to unconventionally [illegally] placed kickstands.  I'm still working out some details in the handlebar area, and below are some recent engine work-out sketches.

Weekly Sectionals: Impala on a Diet

I've been staring at the press release images of the 2014 Impala, and I have to think the best modification for this car would be an entire drivetrain transplant and a proportion overhaul - no small task in real life.  With the power of photoshop however, this overgrown antelope can easily benefit from a 400 lb diet.

Photo modifications include: vehicle lowered ~1.5", sectioned ~2", with bodyline proportionally raised .75" overall, and .5° of forward rake added to bodyline.  Greenhouse reduced in all directions & moved rearward, front wheel size reduced ~1", and front door cutline moved rearward 2.5".  Lightgroups and door handles have been shifted, not modified.

I think the result is rather fetching.

These renderings were done for Autoextremist and Autoline Daily as two vehicles that would expand the Corvette brand to include a top-tier Supercar and a more casual roofless Roadster.  The articles' insight was reinforced and brought to life with these visual aides.

Mustang Mach x1 on a coastal highway

Here, the Mustang Mach x1 concept makes another appearance: this time tearing up a two-lane coastal highway.  This version has an updated front fascia and rocker panel to reflect the form language of Ford's EVOS concept, and Fusion vehicle.  Many other 50th anniversary Mustang speculations have adopted the EVOS' looks, but I still wanted to see it with this proportion.
The Mustang Mach x1 is planned to be a very low production (50) 50th anniversary celebration vehicle, and hearkens to selected details of the '68 fastback and '69 Mach 1.  Although the Mustang has been the go-to car for affordable American performance, this version would shatter that tradition by being the highest-performance, most exclusive car available from the Big Three.  Power coming from a supercharged DOHC v10 mounted to a dual-clutch transmission, negotiated through a finely-tuned IRS would let this car walk past just about everything else on the highways.  It would be valued world-over as a collectible vehicle, and act as the bookend for the "retro Mustangs" as new models roll off the line with contemporary styling, made to global homologation standards.

Lincoln Continental Mark X1 Rework

Above is a re-paint of the front of the car with completely different front details.  I think it looks much more in line with Lincoln's current design language.  Below is the sketch I did earlier this year which motivated me to put a more aggressive front on the new Mark.  The original nose after the jump is more original and stately, whereas the new nose above and in the sketch is more sporty.  Although I'm satisfied with the new nose, I think stateliness is a more appropriate presence for Lincoln than sportiness.  Particularly since Cadillac is so seriously pursuing racing and high-performance, to make a "sporty" product but not be involved with motorsports would be somewhat hypocritical.

Continental Mark X1 Sighting

Here's the most recent rendering of the Lincoln Continental Mark X1 I've been brewing.  It's not an advanced concept (clearly) but it is aimed to put Lincoln back on the World Class podium.  The news that Lincoln will henceforth be concentrating on volume models -the money makers- was sorely disappointing to me, as most enthusiasts are shaking their open hands at the Dearborn Lux Co asking "What are you Doing!?"  Everyone seems to want a memorable, exciting model from Lincoln sailing around on the streets.  So I arranged these pixels to please the hopefuls' eyes.  Enjoy!

Regulations Be Damned!

Hello dear readers! I just wrapped up another SLS AMG photo-mod (same vehicle the Mustang rendering is based on).  I swear that car has the perfect proportions.  I started this paint-over many months ago, and now that Lincoln is starting to change their design language I figured I should wrap it up before it's completely obsolete.  The photo this is based on was amazing, if not surreal- so maybe not the best image to base a photo-mod on, but oh well; I'm a sucker for shiny. The name of course resurrects the Famed Continental name, and in respect of the Mark Concepts that have been around since the expiration of the Mark VIII, This is named the Mark XI. Enjoy!

SNOWJET

I said I was going to throw this up here too, so here it is:
Say hello to the Snowjet. My answer -for now- to Tim's winter vehicle theme challenge. Here we've got ourselves an oversized speedboat for frozen lakes. Refer to the small door on the belly for man-size comparison. The wings on the skis are for keeping the feet on the ground at over 200 mph while the massive fuselage wing levels out any bumps that would otherwise jostle the Grey Poupon being served on-board. Day runs to the Northwest Territory are made downright enjoyable in the well appointed cabin, and passengers appreciate the smooth power and confidant whine of the modified Honeywell AGT1500. The only thing louder than the engine in this thing is the paint.

Arctic Breeze

This was done for a good ol' friendly sketch challenge for a communal blog some friends and I have set up containing items of inspiration and original work. It's my second entry for the winter vehicle sketch challenge, I'll post the first entry shortly.

This Winter Specific sketch challenge vehicle is nicknamed "Arctic Breeze." The concept is simple but novel, as far as I've found. Its essentially a sailing yacht with vertical wind turbines which charge batteries, coupled with an electrically driven tread. I toyed with the idea of mechanically connecting the turbines to the tread but then I realized that this is the Twenty-First Century! Indeed, it's a stark departure from the SnowJet when it comes to brashness, but the idea of a frozen lake-yacht is common between the two. I think the Arctic Breeze would have fairer sailing from a crosswind rather than a headwind, it'd be much like a conventional sailing yacht in that sense. Enjoy!

Mustang Mach x1

Hoooweeee, this was a fun one. So I've been sketching here and there what a real Super 'Stang would look like. What I arrived on was essentially a delightful blend of 2010 GT, 1969 Mach 1, and SLS AMG. The "x1" was borrowed from Darth Vader's TIE Advance x1 prototype fighter, because I'm such a geek. (x serves well for concepts at any rate) I could've gone into more detail on the front and rear, but I feel like I nailed the overall look and I didn't want to detract from that with nitty gritties at either end. One of the details I may have failed to communicate was the pass-through vent in the hood. I suppose hood details would tend to get lost in a side view rendering, though. I spent a very casual Saturday on this, on and off. I'd like to do at least a rear rendering in addition. I'll incorporate it into my website tomorrow.
